How to Write a Clear Brief for a Custom Sauna Room

How to Write a Clear Brief for a Custom Sauna Room

A clear project brief makes it easier to compare possible sauna designs and quotations. You do not need to specify every detail at the start. Begin with the space, the intended use and the features that matter most, then identify the decisions that need confirmation.

Describe the site

Share the available width, depth and height, with photographs and a simple plan where possible. Mark the intended entrance, neighbouring structures and delivery route. Say whether the room is planned for an indoor location or an outdoor site.

Include practical constraints such as a narrow access route or a fixed doorway position. These details can affect the proposed layout and delivery format before material options are discussed.

List the seating priorities

State how many people you expect to use the room and how you would like them to sit. If bench length or room to stretch out matters, make that clear rather than relying only on a capacity label.

Identify which needs are essential and which are preferences. This gives the design discussion a useful order when space or budget creates trade-offs.

Define the requested options

List your preferred timber appearance, glazing arrangement, heating approach and exterior style. Reference images can explain the mood, but pair them with a description of the actual feature you want.

Ask which options are available for the proposed model and which require a separate review. Do not treat a reference image as confirmation that every detail can be supplied unchanged.

Agree what the quotation covers

Request a written specification listing dimensions, materials, equipment and included accessories. Separate optional items from the base configuration. Confirm delivery format, installation responsibilities and any unresolved design decisions.

Before approving the order, check the final drawing and equipment list against the brief. Record agreed changes so the room, heater, glazing and accessories all refer to the same configuration.
