What to Check Before Choosing a Sauna Heater

What to Check Before Choosing a Sauna Heater

A sauna heater should be selected together with the room it will serve. Two cabins with similar external dimensions may have different internal volumes, glazing and construction. Use the final room specification and the heater manufacturer’s instructions as the starting point for comparison.

Use the finished room specification

Collect the internal dimensions and construction details, including glass and other relevant surfaces. Ask the cabin supplier or installer to confirm the appropriate heater selection for this exact design.

Room volume and construction affect heater selection; glass and other uninsulated surfaces can change the power requirement. A simple person count or a photograph is not enough to determine suitability.

Confirm the installation requirements

Before choosing an electric heater, have a qualified electrician review the documented supply and installation requirements. For a wood-burning option, have an appropriate installer review the stove, chimney and site requirements as a complete system.

Ask for the exact installation manual, required clearances and intended equipment positions. Do not finalize a bench plan without considering how the heater fits into it.

Compare the complete package

Check whether the quotation includes the heater, controls, sensors, suitable stones and any required guards or installation components. Included items vary by model and package. Record optional items separately so you can compare quotations fairly.

Confirm where the controls will be installed and how the equipment is intended to be operated. Follow the selected model’s operating instructions rather than assuming every heater uses the same settings or water practices.

Keep the decision documented

Keep the final room drawing, heater reference and equipment list together. If glazing, room dimensions or construction changes, have the heater selection reviewed again before confirming the order. This helps prevent a room update from leaving the original equipment choice unsuitable.

Explore the heater and accessory collection, then request a configuration review for your selected sauna.
